On January 5, 2015 NASA released the largest photograph ever taken. It is a stunning 1.5 billion pixel image that takes up more than 4.3 GB of hard drive space.

Youtuber daveachuck put this video together to help you appreciate the size of this image and of this universe.

This image comes at a crucial time in the history of mankind. It is a standing symbol to the sometimes unfathomable. We are insignificant in this universe. This is a message that our narcissistic culture needs to realize. It is a message that is echoed throughout the millennia by the prophets of God speaking the truth to all mankind. Ponder these verses as you watch that video.

I Chronicles 16:25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

1 Samuel 12:22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

Job 7:17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalm 47:2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

Psalm 96:4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

Psalm 144:3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Jeremiah 10:6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

1 Cor 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Truly, this universe screams the greatness of God and the smallness of man. Now think about this, it is to this tiny planet called earth that God sent His Son to redeem mankind and display His grace to the world.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Wow! While we are insignificant to the universe, we are significant to the creator of the universe. If you are a child of God then smile and ask God to allow you to glorify His name in all you do and say today.
